Illuminated Letters

On Friday -International Women's Day - I went, with my Mum, to a wonderful workshop event run by Glasgow Women's Library at GoMA (Gallery of Modern Art) in Glasgow.

"Illuminated Letters"  is a project "...inviting women across the world to write Illuminated letters of love and honour to an inspirational woman who can be found in Glasgow Women’s Library, a woman who is no longer alive but whose story is celebrated somewhere in our shelves and boxes..."

The woman I chose, was Isabella Tod - 1836-1896.  I didn't know who she was before, but I took to the short biography listing her as a "Scottish suffragist who campaigned for votes for women, published articles and campaigned against the Contagious Diseases Act, and supported higher education for women."

This is my illuminated letter to Isabella...
