“Human presence is a creative and turbulent sacrament, a visible sign of invisible grace”. John O'Donohue

As part of a healing workshop this weekend, we did a meditation where we were invited to meet an animal that would assist us in our healing work. In The Shamanic tradition this might be our totem animal or our power animal.

I was surprised to discover that mine was the Raven. When I work shamanically, the Wolf, the Eagle and the Stag are my companions. But this time, the Raven came to me, clear as day. Of course, the Raven and Wolf are closely linked.

Many people would be startled to receive what they believe to be a totem of death & destruction.  But for me the Raven is a powerful symbol of healing and transformation. It is also gives protection to seers and clairvoyants.

A powerful totem indeed. Thank you Raven.

In the Druid Animal Oracle, The Raven (Gaelic, 'bran') stands for Healing, Initiation and Protection.
