I really enjoyed this article this week about gulls.

I LOVE gulls. This  will probably come as no surprise from the person who also loves weeds, foxes, mice, rats and who - I might add- just spent 10 minutes in the garden gazing at maggots!

I especially love Herring Gulls. They are sleek and beautiful. They are also noisy, cheeky and ridiculously intelligent,as the article points out.

Some might view this as a perverse desire to love what other people don't. That might be part of it. I make no apologies. But I do also genuinely adore all animals whether they are branded as "vermin" or not. If we humans weren't so messy and wasteful, then animals adapting so beautifully to the urban environment wouldn't have such as seemingly anti social-impact.
